Some heavenly inspiration required today – the day before Nano…

And the Lord said, eat some proper lunch, Shirley, thou didst miss breakfast, aside from tea and coffee which doth not count.

And Shirley didst cook pasta and eat it with smoked salmon and a cucumber that was small and crispy.

scrabble wordwritingThen Shirley did finalise the structure of her novel, and she laid down the detail for each chapter and verse, for it was decreed that it must start on the morrow.

And the Lord saith, thou hast done well, Shirley, to finish thy structure. Thou must now take exercise that thy limbs wither not.

And Shirley did take out her smartphone and play stress-reducing Enya into her ears as she walked through the valley of Uzumlu.

And the Lord saith, Enya is a wise and godly choice, now lock thy back gate.

And Shirley did put the key in the gate and render it locked.

And it struck Shirley that storm clouds had gathered in the heavens. They were grey and awesome above Shirley’s head. So Shirley did remove the lovely cushions from the chairs and take them into her dwelling for safe keeping.

Then Shirley returned to her blessed laptop and sat with her ready fingers over the keys. She did pray for inspiration.

The heavens did open and the Lord watered the plants and the swimming pool, which had disgraced itself by falling below twenty degrees.

And Shirley did create from nothing a blessed spreadsheet containing the chapters and verses ready for the morrow.

May the Lord be praised for his mercy.

NaNoWriMo here I come!

nanowrimo-crest-05e1a637392425b4d5225780797e5a76I’m going to write a novel in November and today is October 27. There, I’ve said it.

I know there are not thousands of people reading this blog but for the small number who do, you heard me commit myself.

I have to write 50,000 words in November to upload my novel on the NaNoWriMo web site at the end of the month.

There are loads of blogs with loads of advice on how best to tackle a novel so I am feeling overwhelmed but excited.

A novel, me? Yes.
